Charles Robert McCLEARN was the son of Robert Freeman McCLEARN and Adeline WHITE. He was born in Hardin County at Ellis Township. He married to Elida Mae SMITH in 1897, the daughter of John H. SMITH and Julia HALL

Dr. Roberta L. McClearn was born 18 June, 1865 in Ellis Twp., Hardin County, IA and died on 09 August, 1911 at age 46. Roberta never married or had any children. She was the daughter of Robert Freeman McCLEARN and Adeline WHITE.

Robert Freeman McCLEARN was born in Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia on 04 Dec. 1824 to James McCLEARN and Mary FREEMAN and died 05 Dec. 1900 in Iowa Falls. He married Adeline WHITE on 07 Oct. 1854 in Webster, Androscoggin County, ME. She was born in 1830 in Webster to Charles WHITE and Bethiah ELLIS and died on 26 March, 1915 in Iowa Falls. Robert F. McCLEARN and two of his brother-in-laws (Charles and Daniel WHITE) were among the earliest pioneers to Ellis Twp., Hardin County arriving in 1854. Adeline followed a few years after.
