      Notes for RUEBEN PERRY SHINN:
      He spent his first 21 years on the family farm and attended localschools. When he came ofa ge he left home and became farmer in his ownright, eventually owning 2300 acres of agricultu ral land, on which heraised cattle. He was also associated with others in large farming operations. He served as President of the First National Bank of Ripley andhad numerous other co mmercial and business interests. Hewas Chairman ofthe Republican County Committee for eigh t years and for two terms servedon the Fourth Congressional District Committee. In 1916 he w as aRepublican Elector. He was elected Sheriff of Jackson County in 1904 andagain in 1912 . In 1920 he became a State Senator and served as Chairmanof the AgricultureCommittee of Le gislatures upper house.

      He was still serving as a State Senator at the time of his death he wasaddressing congres s when he had a heart attack and died.

      He spent his first 21 years on the family farm and attendedlocalschools.
